Materials used- wood, aluminium sheet, plastic tube, plastic fan, Electricity generator 8 volts, wires.
We also completed our solution map.
Materials used- file card paper, corrugated sheet, clothe, threads, paper.
next Friday is going to be a final submission week.

Dear Life,
We started working on the final model,
We are using MDF for making the main box.
Our idea is to make a 1x1x1 feet box which will open into 3 feet. and we are half way there, we got our inspiration from vanity make up box.
This is what we have done so far….
We now have to make 3D solution map on it…
We are still working on it!
Yours,
Dreamy Soul.
Dear Life,
Today we came us with a solution for some of the problems of Dharavi. We focused on few problems so that we could find a solution which could be feasible and we could finish it in the limited given time.
The main problem in Kumbharwada is smoke coming out of brick lanes (bhattis). First, we thought about reducing the amount of smoke but then we suddenly had an idea that ‘why to reduce smoke when we can use it’.
And hence we came up with this idea of using smoke to create electricity. We used the technology used in windmills. and we are also planning to add storage disks which can be lifted on the pipe that is going to carry the smoke.
The working of wind turbines.
We have started working on it. And we have to make it in a one by one box and also add a solution map showing how the whole area will look after inserting our new product.
Let’s see now how it works.
Yours,
Dreamy Soul.
Dear Life,
Today we submitted our material library and mood board. Instead of making two different boards we created one model in which we created material library and mood board combined and we also added 3D maps of Kumbharawada representing Business and Infrastructure. This mood board is inspired by Kawad Paintings. Kawad is a native Gujarati way of storytelling. In this Kawad the story unfolds with different opening doors and slides. It is one of the eldest ways of Animation.
(The Kawad Painting.)
As the most of the population living in Kumbharawada is native Gujarati or Kachhi population we linked it with Kawad’s origin.
We also wrote a poem based on the experience from Kumbharwada in the Hindi language it is as follows…
Today we also discussed the problems of Kumbharawada with ma’am and started thinking about the solutions to solving the problems.
Problems faced in Kumbharwada Dharavi:-
- smoke
- improper lighting
- no stoarage place
- floods
- sanitaton
- drainage
Hopefully, we will come up with such a solution which is feasible and economical for real implementation.
Yours,
Dreamy soul..
Dear Life,
As we visited Dharavi in the last week and started observing the overall Kumbharwada, clicked many pictures of that place, searched about its history and collected some materials. (I, Neyomi and Srushti went together for the first time and then Muskan went to collect the materials as she could not make out to come with us as she had some personal reasons)
This was entirely a new and a wonderful experience, we live our life so differently, with all the facilities we have we still keep crying for what we don’t have but then there are these people, even after having nothing they were so happy with their life and enjoying in everything they could afford and working hard every day just to have one meal in a day.
After discussing everything ma’am told us to do mind mapping. She told us to write every single word that comes to our mind related to Kumbharwada on sticky notes and then stick them on an A0 size paper and also categorise them in certain common groups.
the main idea behind using Hindi words as titles is to have a very local Indian feeling.
and this entire experience of walking through those small lanes of Dharavi has changed my perspective of looking at the world and now I feel so lucky to have such a life with all the comforts and facilities I am having currently.
We are also told to make a map of Kumbharwad Dharavi, and map these above seven categories on it, but making a map of Kumbharwada was quite difficult, therefore we went to Dharavi Police station to ask about map; where police told us to go to MHADA office in Bandra with a bonafide letter from college.
So next day, I and Neyomi went to Bandra (east) and got the map from Slum Redevelopment Department of MHADA which is on the fifth floor of MHADA building
For the next class, we have to bring Material library and Mood board. For this, we are thinking to make a Kaawad painting…….. let us discuss this later…. a bit suspense is necessary…

Dear Life,
For Int. Studio we have two lectures in one day, For the first lecture we collaborated with other division and taken to LLR to watch a French movie together.
We watched Audrey Tautou starer movie, Amelie. this movie is based on a girl, Amelie, who sees the world very differently, she is adventurous, she is shy, she is kind but she also takes revenge.
This movie is a perfect combination of almost all genres a movie should have, it has comedy, romance, little fights, mysteries and what more. And the best part is you don’t actually need to understand the French language to understand the movie.
In the second period, we were given a brief about our second project, and this is going to be a group project too; Ma’am divided us into groups of 4 according to our qualities and the things we are lacking in so that we can learn in peers.
I will be working with Neyomi Bhansali, Srushti Jain and Muskan Datta. And we are given different busy markets of Mumbai and are supposed to observe the place for now and ma’am will brief us about it later on.
We have chosen KUMBHRWADA Dharavi, and I am super excited to work on this new project and with these people with whom I have never worked before.
So let the adventure begin….
Yours,
Dreamy soul.
Today we presented our final project to ma’am and she graded us accordingly.
Today we worked in our final model, ma’am helped us with material handling and tools to use. Technical drawing
Today we showed her different prototypes that we made and work on them for further finishing.
Prototype 2
We told ma’am about the material that we were going to use for them. She told us to make one final model out of those two. I selected hardboard for my final model.
